The Method
Tarot as a language.
Not a prophecy.
Arcana is built on a philosophy: that tarot cards are a symbolic system for self-examination, not a window into fate. Here is how the reading engine works, and why we built it this way.
Tarot as mirror, not oracle
We do not believe tarot predicts the future. We believe it offers a symbolic vocabulary for examining what is already present — your patterns, tensions, desires, and blind spots. The cards surface what is there; you decide what to do with it.
Archetypes as a map of inner life
Your quiz answers are scored across 10 psychological dimensions — from emotional intensity to openness to change. From these, we identify one of eight archetypes: a character that captures the dominant energies in your current chapter. Not who you are permanently, but who you are right now.
Deterministic, not random
Your cards are not shuffled at random. They are seeded by your unique profile — your answers, your archetype, the current cycle — ensuring consistency and coherence. The same user in the same session sees the same reading. The pattern holds.
Readings, not predictions
Every section of your reading is interpretive. We analyze each card through the lens of your archetype: how the Tower feels different for The Alchemist versus The Strategist. The reading is contextual, not generic.
No dark patterns, no false urgency
We do not use fabricated timers, manufactured scarcity, or emotionally manipulative copy. Our readings are honest about what they are. Premium access unlocks depth, not necessity. You are never pressured.
The Eight Archetypes
Your quiz places you within one of eight archetypes for your current season.
The Seeker
Curiosity and openness as a way of being
The Visionary
Ambition fueled by intuition
The Protector
Love as both gift and challenge
The Alchemist
Transformation through shadow work
The Strategist
Structure as a path to mastery
The Romantic
Feeling as the primary intelligence
The Rebuilder
Rising from disruption
The Silent Flame
Depth beneath the surface
The Full Deck
Arcana uses all 78 traditional tarot cards: 22 Major Arcana representing universal life themes, and 56 Minor Arcana across four suits — Wands (will and action), Cups (emotion and relationship), Swords (thought and conflict), Pentacles (material and practical).
Each card carries both an upright and a reversed meaning, applied contextually based on your archetype and spread position. No single card is "bad" — every card carries shadow and gift.
